Help me identify a small cyst...
by pronomono ini'm having problems identifying a small cyst that i get every once in a great blue moon.
i like to call it a lollipop cyst because it looks like a really small lollipop.
so, it's basically a small cyst at the tip of a really small shaft (not my penis).

I see skin tags a lot on the elderly patients I take care of. They're rather common and harmless. We have a dermatologist that comes on site to remove them, but I think they can be freeze off like a wart. -

How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?
by Bonsai init seems incredibly difficult.
those who leave the org.
(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

I left so long ago and moved when I left. I would of only wanted to keep one of my former friends, but his family are uber dubs. I tried last year making contact but it involved meeting up at his parent's home. He is 39 and his parents are in their late 70's.
I was given grief for marrying a Catholic. Ummm I've been inactive for nearly 15-20 years, what did they expect.
I don't know how you keep a friendship with a JW without being one.

These JW helpers I think are the next in line for future GB. They've been around for 20 years now but I didn't really know about them till last year when I visited a convention.
One of these helpers gave a talk and he was so full of himself. It was nauseating watching so many flock around him during lunch. It was as if he was some magical holy man. It was my first convention in 12-15 years and was disgusting what I saw there. Also I didn't notice that many young ones. It was either children or middle age ones, but very few in their twenties or thirties.

camping information.
by James Brown inmy wife and i are planning on taking a year off and taking a jeep and a camper through all the 48 contiguous states and alaska and some of canada.. living in florida, i have always had guns and a concealed carry permit.
but researching for our upcoming retirement vacation, it seems to me that i might not be able to legally carry firearms on my upcoming expedition.. it seems every state has different laws and licenses.
what does a camper from florida do when he goes to new york or california?

I'll be honest I haven't read all the replies but just skimmed through them. I would take up the suggestion given of just carrying a shotgun. Remember the guy who had an unloaded, disassembled hand gun in his trunk was given 7 years in New Jersey. But I think New Jersey and other states allow people with legally owned guns to travel through their states.
The gun laws I feel in this country are confusing as they can vary by state, city, and county. Then also I would imagine that federal parks have rules on guns too?
Here is a good article that is only a few months old.

James, I want to do the same thing when my house is paid off. It will probably be another 7 years for me. Do us a favor and when you actually start your trip start a separate post about your experience. I would be interested in your trip and where you went.
Thanks

How strong were you in “The Truth?”
by John Aquila inwhen you were still asleep in the watchtower organization and had no idea of ttatt.
what would you have done if you were in a serious accident and all of a sudden you woke up in the emergency hospital room with all the brothers and sisters at your side and your spouse cheering you on to be faithful to jehovah.
then the doctor comes up to you and tells you that you are about to go into surgery because there is no time to lose and the only way to live is to take a blood transfusion ?

I became inactive at about 18 and would taken the blood. Prior to that it would probably be up to my parents. However from age 13-17 if I had the choice I wouldn't of taken the blood. -

Charity
by aintenoughwiskey inwe know the wt interpretation of matt 25:40 is support of the anointed.
since most of us here are no longer in that situation, what, if any forms of charity are you involved in?
sorry for the awkward framing of the question, it's not meant to imply atheists, or non-christians are not charitable!

I've done fund raising for cancer research, and also volunteered my time one year doing tax preparation for the elderly and poor.
But now I mainly do volunteer work for an emergency squad. I only do one 8 hour shift a month but sometimes I'm involved in saving a life. I also get a lot back from the organization such as training and on hand experience.
I knew of JWs that would donate to red cross and shriner's hospital. I found the JWs as individual were more generous than the organization they worship.

Guns. Well said Mr President, if only your countrymen had the same courage to consider changing course.
by nicolaou inive had to make statements like this too many times.
communities like this have had to endure tragedies like this too many times.
once again, communities [were harmed] because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no problem getting their hands on a gun.. lets be clear: at some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.

For those that want reform on guns in America, what exactly do you propose? I would really like to read some solutions from those that oppose gun ownership in America.
Specifically:
Do you want a total ban on all guns? Keep in mind most gun violence/murders are done by hand guns.
If you want a total ban, How will you collect over 250 million legally owned guns? How will you collect the millions of illegal guns?
What is your propose penalty for violating your new gun laws?
The fact is there could be a mass murder every day in America, and very little REAL change will happen in our gun laws. Limiting how many rounds in a clip or so forth in one state doesn't resolve anything. You just go to the neighboring state to make your purchase.
After the Sandy School massacre, the very next day, I sold in three days 63 "assault" rifles at Walmart. That is right, you can buy your beer and head right over to the sporting goods and buy an assault rifle and go home within about an hour, (depending on jurisdiction, some counties you must wait 3 days) . It just requires valid ID, ATF 4473 form, and a background check.
We average about 9 guns a week prior to the mass shooting. The reason for the spike in sales is the fear those type of guns would be banned. A colt we sold for $1495 would then be sold at a gun show in Florida for $3,000 with no background check or ATF 4473 being filled out. Same with the bushmaster, Sig Saur, and others were being sold for 3 times their value from January to about April of that year. Guess what? No real gun reformed happened. You can still in Florida buy your beer and guns at same time in Walmart or go to a gun show and buy private sale with no background check.
Gun Shows: You are allowed to show up to a gun show with your gun unloaded. You can walk around with a sign stating you wish to sell your gun. You are required to make sure you sell your gun to someone that can legally own it, but the reality is that doesn't happen without a background check. The dealers at the gun shows do background checks, but not the private sellers that walk around. That is a fact. I've been to many in Tampa, Lakeland, Ft Myers, Bradenton, Palmetto, Orlando, and northern Florida.
I'm not a gun nut. I owned quite a few myself, but made the personal decision to sell most of them when I had a baby. I do believe in private gun ownership, but would be willing to change my position under certain circumstances. I just don't see any real change happening and rarely do I see any opposer on this forum stating exactly what they think the solution is.

Preach, preach, preach....feel guilty...preach some more
by Tornintwo insince starting to wake up, i can't help notice how so many talks emphasise preaching, increasing your hours, pioneering etc...with a hefty load of guilt on the side.. i always noticed the guilt, but now i'm noticing how talks that seem to start out on another issue always seem to come back to hours!
visit talk seemed to start out about persecution, trusting in jehovah etc...but the main thrust in the end was, 'do more hours, pioneer, don't get an education or pursue a career, don't get distracted, hooray for the pioneers!
if you dont do more hours you will be 'the sort that shrink back to destruction'.

The JW typical counsel to all problems is field service. Are you depressed? Go out in service. Feeling suicidal? Go out in Service. Want to molest little children? Go out in service.
